Eden Mills Community Cemetery has a long history in the area with a number of generations of local families resting here. Some of the earliest memorials date back to the 1800s. Visitors can trace many area families and their history. The first burial was in 1849 of Barbara Argo, the infant daughter of Eramosa farmer, James Argo.
The original cemetery land was owned by James Argo, who sold the land to the cemetery commission for 50 shillings. In 1867, additional land was purchased from James Argo, that increased the area to one (1) acre. An additional 1/2 acre of land was donated to the cemetery by a nearby farm owner, increasing the cemetery grounds to a total of 1 1/2 acres.
The cemetery 'board' was officially formed on May 23, 1853.
